Writers and Authors for Visceral Entertainment

Stay tuned for updates on our latest events!

Currently accepting submissions for our latest event: June 22, 2018

The Belfast Art Walk has officially confirmed that on June 22 this month (5:30 p.m to about 8 p.m.) they will host a number of local writers, poets, and authors for an evening reading. WAVE has a great place secured at the Belfast Post office and will have snacks and tables set up with lighting and everything. Please come see us, and please send me a note and your reading material (waveinmaine@gmail.com) if you are interested in reading. This event will offer fantastic publicity and an opportunity to get your work in front of a large, eager audience.

WAVE was founded as a means to integrate writing, art, and the community. Good writing should be shared, not hidden, and so WAVE was born as a way of promoting local writers and their work. WAVE is passionately run by a handful of writers – with widely different tastes in literature – who love great work! We read every submission we receive, and try our hardest to provide feedback on submissions whenever we can. Writing is, after all, an art and not a science. (We welcome comments, concerns, and active debates on this topic!)

So join us and other emerging and established writers during numerous reading events across Maine. While we can’t guarantee the kind of literature that will surface at our events, we can promise a great time with even greater people. And good food and drinks don’t hurt either.

WAVE is currently taking submissions! We are seeking local writers who will be willing to read in front of an eager audience for approximately 10 minutes, more or less. Here’s the nitty-gritty:

  • All genres are welcome.
  • At this time, we cannot pay authors who read, but rest assured we are actively working toward making monetary payment a reality. What we can guarantee is publicity, marketing, and a fantastic time.
  • If you have a submission, please send that submission to us at waveinmaine@gmail.com. Indicate “WAVE Submission” in your heading, and please introduce yourself in the body of your email.
  • There are no specific formatting requirements. We just want to read your work!
  • Attachments are okay, but please don’t give us a virus.

We will get back to you as soon as we possibly can.

Cheers,

The WAVE Team
